As Good As It Gets

I worked my partial morning as always on Friday. That is one of the great perks of my current job. I get off work 10:30amish and head for home.

Of course I get those phone calls from weekend shifts but that is getting better these days.

I dropped by Marshalls on my way home to see what they had in way of running shorts. I have several Under Armour or Nike running pants and capris but I wanted shorts. I have 3 now currently that I have been wearing for several years! πŸ™‚

I was pleasantly surprised and found 2 light weight compression shorts that I liked and a decent price. I wish I could wear short shorts but I prefer like 6-8 inch leg length.

Today was supposed to be my rest day but I couldn’t wait until I got home to run. The dogs wanted to go but I wanted to do a relaxed tempo run and didn’t feel like yelling at Eli and picking up poop to run with.

I really wanted to run so I put on my new shorts, other clothes, garmin and hippie-runner expandable gear belt, iPod and set off for a nice run. The last couple of days have been cooler here. I had a nice run. Peyton and Eli were unhappy but I made it up to them with plenty of “pretend to throw the tennis ball and watch them run after it!” That never gets old to me! πŸ™‚

I love my hippie runner expandable gear belt. I bought it at the Go! St. Louis Expo in April.

I really needed to take a rest day today because I’m doing 10 in the morning but I was “tweaking.” πŸ™‚

I had my doctor’s check up today and all went well. My doctor is a marathoner so we had plenty to talk about. I do have a touch of poison ivy on my tummy and I know that came from weed eating in a cut off shirt! No biggie.

I’m watching my Cardinals v Bluejays and sipping Missouri made Strawberry Moscato. I am eating a bit of gorgonzola cheese. I should not be doing that. The doctor’s scales had me weighing 3 more lbs than mine! WTF? πŸ™‚

It’s good to stay home in Columbia for a change. It’s Kevin’s birthday tomorrow so that’s what he wanted. He is doing great on his fitness journey also. He is losing weight and increasing his running miles. It was his idea for 10 miles tomorrow and I was going for 8! πŸ™‚

He’s still juicing but off the total juice diet. He is making healthy meals and balanced which is what I like to see. He is making more smoothies with protein for his breakfast so I’m happy.

I had a moment of extreme emotions today. I was folding and hanging up clothes and my canine boys both came in and jumped on the bed and starting trying to nuzzle and love on me. I was hugging them and crying. Peyton is always sensitive to my emotions and he was trying to show me affection. A lady at work lost her dog yesterday to old age. She called meΒ this morning crying. She knows my love for dogs and that’s what we talk about. His name was “Clooney” after George Clooney. Her heart is broken and I was so sad for her and sad for me when that happens to me.

Anyway…..if I told people how much I really think about my dogs when I’m not with them, they’d really think I was crazy! “The crazy dog lover runner”

I’m feeling loved, rested, appreciated, healthy and strong these days..

  1. Awwww, I could not live without animals in my life. I love dogs, I love squirrels, I love bunnies…I talk to them during my morning runs. I talk to cats, too, and sometimes they follow me for a bit. Hehe!! I will always be the crazy animal lover that will block cars from running over squirrels, that will crazily wave at deers and blow kisses to birds!! I love being crazy about animals and I love that you are, too!!!
Have a fantastic weekend!!! Great job on your run!! You are truly amazing!! I love how much you LOVE running!! XOXO!!!

  2. You’re definitely not the only crazy animal lady! lol I do what Kristin does, I talk to the animals, and I cry when I have to leave my dogs, I call the lady that keeps them multiple times a day the first few days, then at least once a day after that. And text her too! If someone else loses their furry baby I cry with them…when I think about one I’ve lost in the past, I tear up. So no, you’re not alone girlfriend! πŸ™‚ As a matter of fact, I can guarantee some tears from me in a little while when I go bury the little baby bird I’ve been fostering the last two days…I’m trying not to think about it right now… I pray the little one died in its sleep and didn’t suffer. 😦

On a better note, I hope your run today is awesome and that your honey has an awesome birthday! πŸ™‚ Also, check out, I have a ton of their stuff and it makes me sweat like nothing I ever thought of. lol I just bought some shorts in hopes of wearing them when I’m walking or riding my bike just for the extra calorie burn and sweat. πŸ™‚

Have a great weekend Charlotte! πŸ˜€

    1. You sound like me! When we go on vacation and board our dogs, I call everyday to ask how they are doing! Those guys must think I’m nuts. I even cry now thinking about losing my boys. I really used to not care for dogs….I missed out on so much. My run on Saturday was good and a nice relaxing day with Kevin on his birthday. I am checking out zaggora and I love it! Hopefully soon you can get back to your bicycle. πŸ™‚

      1. If you decide to order from Zaggora, you’ll have to let me know what you think! πŸ™‚ I did 4 miles on my bike yesterday (sitting still, but that’s ok…lol). It reallllly makes my back tired which I never would’ve thought. πŸ™‚
