Cos Santa Cruz, You’re Not That Far

I just did not want to come to work today. When the alarm went off, it was all I could do to get out of bed.  I feel fine and no real soreness from my 12 miles on Saturday. This coming Saturday or Sunday is 13.1 miles. After that distance, I am in “no man’s land” as far as distance is for me. Aug 16 is 10 miles (walk back week), Aug 23 is 15 miles, Aug 30 is 16 miles!

It’s day #51 of “marathon training.”

It’s less than 76 days before I attempt 26.2 at RnR St. Louis!!!

Today is supposed to be rest day from running but I do need to get in 45 minutes of cardio-boxing tonight. I can do that in the cool basement and not have to worry about the heat that came back to visit Mid-Mo today.

Daniel is supposed to come spend the week with us here in Columbia next week. I’m excited and he seems excited but he will likely sing another tune when he has to leave his parents for the first time for more than one day.

It will be a challenge for me to get my running miles in while Daniel is here. I might be a slacker that week! 🙂

Also, I am ready for some vacation time. 🙂 I’m pretty much missing Santa Cruz. I’m friends with people from there and the constant posting of awesome pictures is making me heart-sick. It’s the time (usually) for our yearly 2 week vacation in the Bay area. Santa Cruz, San Fran, Napa, Monterey, Carmel….   *sigh*

Forgive for a few more pictures…..I’m daydreaming…..

  1. California Dreaming, eh Charlotte? Why not? It’s beautiful! I’m sure Daniel will have a blast at your home when he visits. A little sadness can be overcome with a trip to the ice cream stand. 🙂

    1. Yeah, I’ve been pretty useless at work today! lol Kevin and I may go to New Mexico for a few days after my marathon. We usually visit Vegas the first week in December but except for seeing Kevin’s mother and brother, I’d just as soon not go there. I eat and drink way too much! That ice cream trip works every time with Daniel…and me. 🙂

      1. We brought our boys to the local ice cream stand for some dinosaurus crunch. No idea what it tastes like, but it’s blue and that was a deal breaker form them. lol

    1. I’m sure he’ll do facetime with Mom and Dad. He spent so many days here with us a few years ago when they lived here. I love it when he comes back. He knows he will get spoiled! 🙂

  2. I’ve never been to Santa Cruz, but it looks amazing! I absolutely love the picture of you sitting on the tree! Absolutely beautiful and classic! Great job sticking to your training too! Including kick boxing on your rest day! You totally rock! 🙂

    1. Welcome back, Betty! Santa Cruz is a great little hippie town. 🙂 Thank you. I love beaches, sea lions, sea otters, and the great food in Cali. 🙂 I am enjoying the kick boxing. I get my heart rate up high and enjoy punching that bag hard on a day when I want to punch people! lol Thank you 🙂
